How it works

Becoming a Master’s International (MI) student requires a combination of focus, flexibility, and dedication. As an MI Student, you will spend two semesters on campus completing coursework prior to receiving your overseas assignment and traveling to your host country.  Courses are selected by the student and his/her advisory committee based on the student’s interests and the degree requirements. The degree program is designed to meet individual student needs  and interests, while taking into consideration the degree requirements.  You should receive your Peace Corps country assignment during your second semester on campus.

Once in the Peace Corps, you will spend three months in language, cross-cultural, and technical training. After training,  you will receive your Peace Corps assignment, which lasts 24 months. Following your Peace Corps service, you will return to campus for one to two semesters to complete your coursework and your project or thesis.

While overseas you will be a Peace Corps Volunteer first. Your Peace Corps assignment will shape your academic project or thesis, allowing you to apply what you have learned to benefit the community you live in.

Upon completion of your academic work, you will have a master's degree in your respective field and two years of significant international experience.
